Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take for my dress to arrive?
Congratulations, you've ordered a Pyne & Smith dress! Our dresses are ethically and sustainably made, here in California with 100% flax European linen. Please allow one to two weeks for your dress to be cut, sewn and shipped. Many dresses are in stock and will ship out within 2-3 days - if you need your order urgently, please contact me!
Worried about sizing?
Please visit the size guide page!
My dresses are made to be a comfortable, relaxed fit. However, all of our bodies are unique! I highly recommend getting a measuring tape, measuring your bust (Bust size is not bra size...you need to measure around the fullest part of the bust) waist and hips.
My model is wearing a size Small. She is 5’8”. Measurements: Bust 35”, waist 27.5”, hips 34”, shoulder width 16”.
Please don't hesitate to e-mail me with any questions regarding sizing:
What's so special about linen?
Real, 100% Linen fabric (which is all we use for our dresses) is made entirely from the flax plant, it's incredibly strong and durable (it's 30% stronger than cotton). Typically, cotton will last for 3-5 years before showing signs of wear - linen will last for 10 times than before showing signs of wear - so 30-50 years! It actually improves with age, each wash makes your linen softer. In addition, Linen is hypo-allergenic and highly breathable, making it a wonderful fabric for sensitive skin, and to wear in hot weather yet it also insulates in the cold weather.
Linen is environmentally friendly to produce (every part of the flax plant is used to make linen fabric, so there is no waste) and it requires less water and chemicals to grow and cultivate, additionally the flax plant enriches the soil it is grown in.
How do I wash my dress?
Linen: Machine wash in warm water, tumble dry on a low or medium setting (or hang dry.) For a crease free look, press with a hot, steamy iron. However, crease ironing will weaken the fold in the fabric and should be avoided on a regular basis.
Wool: Machine wash COLD water with Woolite, lay flat to dry, or Dry clean. Wool only needs to be cleaned every 12 wears or so...it's a naturally self cleaning fabric.
